Sriya Reddy, the winner of the VJ hunt on SS Music, gained fame as ‘VJ Sriya’ while hosting popular shows like Connect and Phonetastic. Despite facing five auditions, she quickly became a favorite among young viewers. Even though her parents weren’t thrilled about her acting in movies, she secretly signed up for a Telugu film while her father was asleep. Her debut happened in Balaji Sakthivel’s Samurai, playing a supporting role alongside Vikram. Unfortunately, her first Telugu movie, Appudappudu, didn’t perform well, leading her to take a break from the film industry.

In 2004, she debuted in Malayalam with Mammootty’s Black, playing a de-glamorized role. She considered this her career high for working with Mammootty. She also starred in an English film, 19 Revolutions that did well in the US.

In 2005, she had a successful release with the Malayalam film Bharathchandran I.P.S., playing an IPS police officer. In 2006, her Tamil films Thimiru and Veyil gained fame. Thimiru showcased her as a rustic, negative character, receiving critical acclaim. Veyil, produced by S. Shankar, was praised and won awards.

She appeared in Priyadarshan’s Kanchivaram, receiving acclaim and nominations. After this film, she took a break due to marriage. Eight years later, she made a comeback with Andaava Kaanom, playing an angry village woman named Shanthi.

Recently she is acted in Salaar as an important role named Radha Rama and was directed by Prashanth Neel.
